Chris Hefley’s Story
Chris Hefley started his entrepreneurial journey at age 13, selling golfballs he fished out of the water traps. After earning a computer science degree and spending 15 years as a professional software developer, he co-founded LeanKit, one of Nashville’s most successful non-healthcare startups. LeanKit raised over $10M in angel funding from 106 local investors, and then another $16M from Insight Venture Partners, grew to over 100 employees, and was acquired by Planview in 2017 for $65M.
Since then, Chris has been a part of several successful startups (and some unsuccessful ones), as an Advisor, CxO, cofounder or Board Member. He’s also been an advisor to many startups as a volunteer mentor at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.
Chris is acutely aware of the unique challenges facing startups in today’s economic and business climate. He is committed to helping founders navigate these challenges and achieve success, using his extensive experience and expertise to provide valuable insights and practical advice.

Originally from Nashville, TN, Chris is currently living in the beautiful aloha state of Hawaii and works Central Standard Time (CST) with a time-shifted schedule. When he is not helping entrepreneurs scale their dream company, you can find Chris soaking up the sand and surf with his wife and daughter. Chris is an avid Formula 1 fan, wannabe professional chef, and tries to live each day with purpose and passion.

Chris has raised over $17M from angel investors and $20M from institutional investors since 2009, and has supported the successful launches of several startups, including LeanKit, Initial State and Retrium, and some unsuccessful ones a well, with plenty of lessons learned.
He is skilled in creating financial models, pitch decks, and delivering effective investor pitches.
